LBNL RUNAROUND COMMITTEE INSTRUCTIONS:
DECORATIONS
CREW
Balloons will take up to a minimum of one hour to complete. It is best to
have at least 7 people to help. One person to inflate balloons, 2 people
to tie off balloons (slowest operation), 2 people to attach the ribbon,
1 person to hold completed balloons, and 1 person to distribute and decorate.
It is helpful to have at least 2 people assigned and recruit 5 other people
from Results or T-Shirt Distribution.
HELIUM
Contact Stores, Tony Marquez x2896. Request one 200 foot cylinder of helium
with a valve for balloons to be delivered to the cafeteria parking lot no
later than 10:15-10:30 AM. Make arrangements for cylinder to be picked up
after the LBL Runaround. Note: The helium cylinder must be securely fastened
to a tree or post for safety reasons.
BALLOONS
Purchase 150 nine inch helium quality balloons in 4-6 different colors for
variety. "Party America" (a party outlet store) seems to have
the best prices. Any excess balloons can be stored for future events.
RIBBON
Purchase 2-3 different colored rolls of ribbon. Estimate 3 yards of curling
ribbon per balloon for a total of 450 yards. Pre-cut into 3 yard lengths
for efficiency. Again, "Party America" seems to have the best
prices. Any excess ribbons can be stored for future events.
DECORATING
Secure balloons to the Finishing Line Posts (very top of posts), water tables,
t-shirt tables, food tables, stage (side of speakers), results tables, two
light poles near stairs, etc. Remember to bring two rolls of masking tape
to help secure balloons.
